Register with Signagelive

If you do not already have an account with Signagelive, follow these steps to create one. You will need at least one license code to register. License codes for bundled players can be located on your invoice and email confirmation.

  1. Click here to go to the Signagelive login page.

  2. Click on the “I’ve purchased a License, Get Started” link.

  3. Complete the Sign Up form to create an account and enter one of your license codes into the box provided at the bottom of the form. Follow the steps to name your network and add any additional licenses before completing the process.

  4. In your Signagelive Dashboard, you can optionally add additional users with varying levels of permissions by navigating to Settings > Users in the second navigation bar and clicking the blue + button for a new user.

  5. You can also optionally add additional licenses by selecting Settings > Licenses and clicking the blue + button and selecting Licenses to add one or multiple licenses to your account without activating them or select Player to add a license to a player displaying an activation code on-screen.


Set up Signagelive for BrightSign Built-In Screens

It is recommended that Signagelive be installed on players running the latest BrightSign HS123 firmware, which can be downloaded here by selecting Firmware under BrightSign DSM.

Copy the downloaded .bsfw file to the root of a blank micro-SD card, insert the micro-SD card into the player, and power it on. Once the player has finished updating and rebooted, remove the micro-SD card and follow the remaining steps to set up Signagelive on your player.

  1. Download the Signagelive Client here.

  2. Extract the zip file to the root of a micro-SD card.

  3. Create an additional folder on your micro-SD card named data.

  4. Use the Signagelive BrightSign Config Tool to select your preferred time zone and networking settings. By default, the player is configured to connect using the ethernet port and DHCP.

  5. Click generate on both the “Configuration” and “Networking” sections and move the settings.json and network.json files generated into the data folder of your micro-SD card.

    Your Micro-SD card should resemble the following structure

    • data

      • settings.json

      • network.json - optional if you configured the network

    • node modules

    • scripts

    • autorun.brs

    • Index.html

  6. Remove the micro-SD card from your computer and insert it into your unpowered BrightSign Built-In Screen.

  7. Power on the BrightSign Built-In Screen.

  8. Connect the BrightSign Built-In Screen to a stable internet connection via the ethernet port.

  9. Wait for an activation code to appear on-screen and use it to activate a Signagelive license, which you can do via the License Manager (via Settings > Licenses menu) in your Signagelive account. Now choose an available license you wish to use, and after selecting, within the license summary window enter the Activation Code shown on your screen and click Save.

  10. A green tick will appear to indicate connection, and you may begin publishing.

Link Signagelive with Google Calendar

To use calendar and room booking widgets, you must set up your Google Calendar to sync with Signagelive.

  1.  Log in to Signagelive from your desktop browser.

  2. Click on the name of the network you wish to create your Calendar within and from the top navigation bar, use the Applications Menu (a drop-down found at the top of your Signagelive Account interface, in between your Network and User Name) to select Calendar Integration application from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click the gear icon in the top right corner to bring up the screen to allow you to connect your Google service, and then click the green Authorize button to allow you to select and approve the Google Account you wish to link your calendar to. If your Google Account is not listed, click the Add Another Account option to proceed. You may be required to enable pop-ups.


    At this stage your Google Calendar will need time to initially synchronize with Signagelive. This process will take up to twenty minutes to complete.

  4. Click the blue New Room button in the top left of the page.

  5. Name the room with a reference of your choice; this name will be displayed on the screen utilizing the calendar.

  6. Select Google from the service dropdown.

  7.  and select the specific calendar you wish to display. If you are using a GSuite account, you may select a resource as well.

  8. Save your changes and make a note of the API key displayed. You must copy and paste this unique key into your widget during playlist creation stage.

You can create multiple rooms, each with their own API key, tied to specific Google calendars. Players assigned the same room will sync events.


Create and Publish an Interactive Room Scheduler

Signagelive works by delivering a playlist of content to a connected device. This playlist can contain one or many assets including images, video, and widgets. Many prebuilt assets are available from the Signagelive Marketplace at no additional charge.

The BrightSign Built-In Room Scheduler can be published with a Signagelive widget that connects and syncs with your Google calendar. It can display scheduled events, book rooms on the fly, or cancel events that let out early.

 To create an Interactive Room Scheduler playlist:

  1. Log in to Signagelive from your desktop browser.

  2. From the top menu, navigate to Content > Playlists > Create/Edit.

  3. From the left hand Playlist Creator menu select Marketplace.

  4. Within the Marketplace, now use the search bar to locate the Interactive Room Booking widget by entering search terms such as “interactive”, “room” or “Bluefin”.

  5. Several options will be available, so ensure you select the option which includes Interactive Room Booking 1 - Bluefin Light Support as the title. Once found, click Okay in the bottom right.

  6. In the Playlist Creator, click “Recently Added” from the Smart Folders sidebar on the left, and drag the Interactive Room Booking widget you just added into your playlist.

  7. Double click your widget in the playlist. Scroll down and Enter your Room API key that you noted previously.

  8. Please ensure “Show Only Today’s Meetings” and “Use Light Bars” are selected in the options below within your Widget setup.

  9. Under the Duration tab of the widget, set the duration to 5 minutes or more.

  10. Save your playlist with the floppy disk icon at the top of your Playlist setup.

  11. To publish this playlist, navigate to Content > Publish from the second navigation bar.

  12. Within the Signagelive Published, for Question 1. When do you want this content to play?, select “Between the chosen dates and times” and then your Start Date and Time will be preset for you and you can leave the End Date to be on Until Further Notice.

  13. For Question 2. What do you want to publish?, select Playlist and then find the Playlist you just created with your Interactive Room Booking widget in.

  14. For Question 3. Which Players do you want to publish to?, select all of the players you wish to display this playlist on via the Select Players button.

  15. Select Publish to Players. Is may take a few minutes for your players to download and boot the new content.
